The Eclipse Story
Eclipse Gift Wrapping is a family business run by Alison Westwood and her husband, John, assisted by a fully trained, experienced team of gift wrappers and trainers. Following a successful career as a physiotherapist, working for the NHS as well as in private practice and Sports Medicine, Alison fell seriously ill with viral meningitis. Recovery took several years, during which Alison re-trained her memory, concentration and co-ordination by learning to play the piano and being Mum to two small boys. Eventually, acknowledging a love of crafts and putting to good use an extensive past experience of teaching skills to others, Eclipse Gift Wrapping was born.
Eclipse provides a professional gift wrapping service comprising high quality demonstrations, ‘hands-on’ workshops and professional gift wrapping services for businesses and individuals. As well as using conventional gift wrap, Alison uses re-cycled and alternative materials, often incorporating aspects of origami and furoshiki. Quality, creativity and innovation are central to Alison’s ethos.
Alison and her team have worked with a variety of big brands both corporate and charitable, for example, Coty Cosmetics, Admiral Insurance, TK Maxx/HomeSense, St David’s 2 Centre, Cardiff, Relate and Meningitis Now.
Alison is also a very popular demonstrator at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas in London and has taken part in a TV recording. Other clients include the Women’s Institute, Soroptimists and local authority based organisations such as Communities First, where the Eclipse team have run very successful interactive workshops.
It’s Not Just Gift Wrapping!
Eclipse provides custom-made gift bags, boxes and envelopes for exclusive boutiques and takes on visual display and presentation assignments, for example, bespoke themed decoration of Christmas trees, complete with hand-made ornaments and plenty of wrapped gifts under the tree!
In addition, the team provides a variety of enjoyable, instructional workshops such as ribbon flower making, jewellery making (all aspects) and gift bag and miniature box making. These can be tailored to suit individuals, small or larger groups and are used as team-building or ‘lunchtime learning’ events by local companies. Have a look at our craft training courses menu!
It’s All About Standards!
Professionalism is very important at Eclipse and we will always endeavour to uphold high standards in all that we do, replying promptly to emails and treating everyone courteously and with respect.
That said, our demonstrations and training courses aim not only to teach you a range of valuable and useful skills, but also to ensure you have a great time in the process! Enjoyment is the key – we want you to feel we gave you the best possible experience.
All our training courses can be brought to you if you live in another area of the country so please just ask for a quotation.
If you have a slightly quirky request please don’t let that put you off! We can do quirky and unusual; thinking outside the box is something we are good at. Let’s face it – if we can gift wrap rocking horses, walking boots and chairs without a box in sight, there’s not a lot will put us off!
